Saved for the Nation???

Unfortunatly due to work committments (I finish at 10pm on a Tue!) I was unable to get to the meeting about changes to the Plumstead Common Conservation Area. I did however read through the Proposals . Page 52 makes interesting reading as it contains a list of local buildings which should be added to the list of those worth preserving, coming in at no. 7 on the list is the Royal Albert public house.
Now, as the address given is Plumstead Common Road, rather than Old Mill Road, it may be that they mean the Prince of Wales.
But, if the name is correct, then the Pub they want to preserve is the very same one the council have put a compulsory purchase order on in order to demolish, so that Plumstead Manor school can expand. (see Greenwich Watch
Greenwich Council
YOU COULDN'T
MAKE IT UP

If on the other hand, they want to save the Prince of Wales, then they don't know it's name!

Page 45 also has an interesting take on preservation stating that 'Old doors should be replaced and not repaired'!!

Last went in prince of wales about 2 years ago, was a nice enough place, just a few too many chavs giving evils for my liking.

The albert was an alright family pub til it got taken over. I dont rate it much now but it does seem to do a reasonable trade and I've never been had any grief from anyone from there. The people who go there seem to like the place so I cant see what harm its doing except being in the way of the council doing a bit of cheap money grabbing for no-ones benefit but their own.

I last went in the Prince of Wales about 2 years ago on a Saturday. They had live music - a 'one man band' playing rock cover versions - and the atmosphere was ok.

By the way, this comments window just launched 3 pop-up advertising windows on my browser! Not nice.
Does adsense actually bring in any revenue Simon? I'd love to know....

Nigel, it wasn't adsense which produced the pop ups, but another piece of code which I experimented with, I have now removed it, and am sorry for the annoyance. It was supposed to boost traffic, but the last thing I wanted was to piss people off!! Have no idea if adsense will produce any revenue, but it just sits there and does not produce pop ups, will let you know if it works, have fun, Simon
